Djibouti Spring Season – Start.
Our Djibouti season started much slower than usual. Weather conditions across the Indian Ocean were far from typical for this time of year, highly unpredictable, and this had a noticeable impact on our fishing.
From the outset, we raised some quality fish and had several solid connections, but luck wasn’t on our side. Early in the trip, we lost more than 11 fish and mostly landed smaller ones. Bites didn’t come easily, and our guests had to put in real effort to make things happen.
As the trip progressed and the days grew hotter, fish activity began to improve. Some days delivered excellent action, while others remained slower, but overall the trend was positive.
By the end of the trip, we had landed over 36 GTs. While many were smaller fish, we also brought in some solid ones, along with a few great fish that got away. The variety of species was impressive as well, including quality snappers, mackerel, groupers, mahi-mahi, African pompano, and more.
With such a great group on board, the energy stayed high throughout, making this another memorable and enjoyable trip.
Now it’s time for a short resupply and some rest, then we head out again.
Tight lines,
Rob
