Djibouti Spring season 2025: SECOND WEEK

Our second trip to Djibouti welcomed us with strong northerly winds and noticeably cooler conditions than expected. Despite the challenging weather, spirits were high as we set sail with the youngest group Wild Sea has ever hosted – an enthusiastic team of young Chinese anglers, all eager to land their first or second giant trevallies.

Fishing proved to be tougher compared to the previous week, likely due to the persistent north wind stirring up the waters. The GT bite was noticeably slower, but perseverance paid off. We managed to hook a decent number of fish, landing some good specimens along the way, though a few really big ones slipped out of our hooks.

Interestingly, while the GT action was quieter, other predators seemed more active and eager to strike. Highlights of the trip included two spectacular sailfish, and Napoleon wrasse.

Despite the tougher conditions, the group stayed focused and determined, making the most of every opportunity on the water. All in all, it was an absolute pleasure to host the next generation of GT fishermen on one more memorable trip full of learning, firsts, and stories that will no doubt inspire their next offshore adventure.

Nice GT on a fly for Jimmy.

Until the next report,

Rob / WSE Team
