Djibouti Autumn Season – Week Two Report.

The second week of our Djibouti Autumn Season didn’t disappoint. It matched the excitement of the first week, though with slightly less shore action.

We began by working the shallower areas again, hoping that the slight drop in temperature would spark some activity in the same spots that produced good numbers and sizes of GTs last spring. Unfortunately, the fish were still sluggish, we had a few followers, but most remained slow and lethargic.

Things changed dramatically on day two. Fishing new spots, the action suddenly exploded. Jigging was intense — we hooked into some serious fish, even losing two monster fish after a hard battle. Despite that, we landed several quality fish in the 20–30 plus, kg range.

When we returned to shore, there was no warm-up period for this group, they went straight into heavy action. Within minutes, anglers were hooking into big GTs from 25 to 30 kg, with strikes so powerful they nearly pulled them into the water. Having this level of shore fishing in Djibouti is truly something special and rare.

We hooked eight fish from shore this week and nearly landed only one before it came off just as we grabbed the leader. Still, the team had an incredible trip. Again we put a good number of good sized fish on the boat, and then we had whale sharks next to the mother boat at night.

We saw eagle rays jump, turtles, dolphins. Guys were enjoying the full experience of healthy fishery.

Djibouti once again proved why it stands out as a world-class GT fishery, showing off its raw beauty and unique charm.
